20s and 30s look

Our first how-to class was on the silent movie era of the 20s and 30s as a film buff I immediately thought of Anna Mae Wong and Clara Bow. We learned how to do the classic 20s/30s eye with an owl esque shape, deep colours to create a heavy set look and expressive thin eye brows. In the afternoon we cracked this up a notch with more colour and a cupids bow mouth to finish of the look and a chalky (for 20s)or more dewy (for 30s) base. I made up my lovely model Carrie in deep blues that reminded me of moon scenes from silent moves.

I love the thin eyebrows and the cherry lips of the 20s- a look that I have been continuing to practice!

Illamasqua

I have not posted in a while as I have been a busy bee- I went on a two day vintage make-up course at Illamasqua where I learned how to apply 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s make up.

It was such a great couple of days, the staff were lovely and informative and the other students were equally as lovely. It was a fantastic opportunity to go wild with imagination and colour in true Illamasqua style and we even got some free gifts- 3 brushes, eye liner, lipstick in 'Sangers' and mascara- perfect for achieving the 50s style! On top of this I got a lovely certificate and 25% off so I couldn't help but by a gorgeous peachy shade eyeshadow...yum yum!

I am a huge Illamasqua fan and have been previously on their Dragstar Superhero course which obviously was immensely fun and would recommend one of their courses to any one looking to expand their application knowledge and have an excuse to get creative.

From Montreal with love

J'aime Coeur De Pirate how about you?

Double Trouble

Nothing says spring to me like editorials featuring gal pals it conjures up road trips and days out with a care free attitude. J'aime! Here are two such images from W and Vogue China. In other girl on girl news I have joined the London Feminist Bookgroup and am awaiting the arrival of my first text in the post-so interested to see the turn out and hear the perspectives of the other members and how to marry the concepts of third wave feminism with the positivity that I want to bring to my life along with independence and confidence.
I am quite into the way that fashion has been appropriating extreme sports giving high fashion girlie editorials a touch of skater cool its possible to like dresses and trucks. Boom its officially cool to not want to look glossy.
